Here's what we started with - a dated kitchen with builder-grade white cabinets, sage green walls, a drop ceiling, and a layout that just didn't work. It had good bones, but it wasn't doing anything for the space. The homeowners knew what they wanted, and we got to work planning every detail.

The design direction was bold and intentional. We went with bright white shaker cabinets on the perimeter and a deep navy blue on the accent wall and beverage station - a two-tone combo that gives the kitchen real personality without feeling overdone. The shiplap ceiling replaced that old drop ceiling and completely changed the feel of the room. It adds texture and character in a way that paint alone never could.

One of the biggest wins here was the island. It's large, functional, and topped with a thick slab of white quartz with soft grey veining running through it. That same quartz wraps the perimeter countertops and the backsplash behind the navy cabinets. Three globe pendant lights with an antique brass finish hang over the island - and they tie the whole space together. The farmhouse sink under the window, the brass hardware, and the built-in wine fridge under the navy station all speak the same design language.

We also added a custom corner banquette with wainscoting detail and a round pedestal table - turning a wasted corner into an actual dining nook. It's one of those additions that homeowners wonder why they didn't do years ago. The original floor was kept and refinished, which was a smart call. It grounds the white and navy with some warmth.

Projects like this one in Greensboro are our favorite kind - where the before and after gap is wide, every decision was intentional, and the result is a kitchen the homeowners will use and love every single day. This is what a full kitchen remodel should look like.
